{"id":10630,"date":"2026-03-19T00:01:43","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T23:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chiruca.com\/en\/?p=10630"},"modified":"2026-02-26T11:49:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T10:49:14","slug":"international-forest-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chiruca.com\/en\/2026\/03\/19\/international-forest-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Without forests, there are no trails: celebrate International Forest Day by walking towards the future"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>There is something that almost all of our favourite routes have in common, although we often do not realise it.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The shade we appreciate halfway along the path.<\/p>\n<p>The smell of damp earth after the rain.<\/p>\n<p>The sound of the wind rustling the leaves as we stroll along.<\/p>\n<p>Behind many of our best adventures there is always a forest.<\/p>\n<p>Every 21 March, we celebrate International Forest Day, a date that invites us not only to admire forests, but also to reflect on their importance and, above all, on how we can help protect them.<br \/>\nBecause forests are not just beautiful landscapes: they are the source of many of the experiences we have outdoors.<\/p>\n<h3>The place where many adventures begin<\/h3>\n<p>When we go for a walk or explore a new route, we think about kilometres, views or peaks. But we rarely think about everything the forest is doing for us as we walk along.<br \/>\nForests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>regulate temperature and create natural microclimates<\/li>\n<li>protect the soil from erosion<\/li>\n<li>store carbon and help combat climate change<\/li>\n<li>are home to much of the Earth&#8217;s biodiversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And what&#8217;s more, something that every hiker knows well: they completely transform the walking experience.<\/p>\n<p>A trail under trees never feels the same as an exposed one. The pace changes, a sense of calm appears, and the connection with nature becomes deeper.<\/p>\n<p>Without forests, many routes would simply cease to be what they are.<\/p>\n<h3>From enjoying nature to caring for it<\/h3>\n<p>Those of us who live outdoors know that enjoying nature also comes with responsibility. Every step we take in nature reminds us how important it is to preserve these spaces for the future.<\/p>\n<p>That is why more and more projects are seeking to move from awareness to real action.<\/p>\n<p>Because celebrating forests one day a year is fine.<\/p>\n<p>But caring for them all year round is what really makes a difference.<\/p>\n<h3>The Chiruca Forest: a commitment that grows over time<\/h3>\n<p>With this idea in mind, the Chiruca Forest was born, a project that reflects something essential to the brand: giving back to nature part of everything it offers us.<\/p>\n<p>More than a one-off initiative, it is a living space that contributes to reforestation and the recovery of ecosystems, helping to create new green lungs that will continue to grow for decades.<\/p>\n<p>A forest does not appear overnight. It needs time, care and continuity. Just like the routes we travel again and again, its value increases over the years.<\/p>\n<p>The Chiruca Forest represents precisely that: a long-term commitment to the environment that inspires our adventures.<\/p>\n<h3>Walking can also leave a positive mark<\/h3>\n<p>Hiking and outdoor activities teach us something important: nature is not a stage, it is a balance.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing responsible routes, respecting natural environments and supporting conservation initiatives are small decisions that, when added together, have a real impact.<\/p>\n<p>Because protecting forests also means protecting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the paths we walk<\/li>\n<li>the biodiversity we discover<\/li>\n<li>and the experiences we want to continue enjoying tomorrow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Celebrate forests, today and every day<\/h3>\n<p>International Forest Day is a good excuse to stop for a moment and look around the next time we go for a walk.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that trail we love so much exists thanks to generations of trees that grew slowly before we arrived.<\/p>\n<p>And perhaps the best way to celebrate is simple: to continue exploring, respecting and caring for the places that make our adventures
