To minimise the risk, follow these tips:<\/p>\n<h5>Prevention<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dress smart:<\/strong> Long-sleeved clothing, long trousers and light colours are the best option to avoid attracting the attention of insects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use repellent:<\/strong> Opt for a repellent with DEET, icaridin or essential oils such as citronella or lemon eucalyptus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid strong perfumes:<\/strong> Sweet scents can attract insects, especially bees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stay away from stagnant water:<\/strong> It is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Camp with caution:<\/strong> Use mosquito nets and check your tent before sleeping.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check your clothes and skin after your hike:<\/strong> Especially for ticks that may have attached themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Treatment<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mosquitoes:<\/strong> Wash the area with soap and water and apply cold to reduce swelling. You can use aloe vera or an antihistamine cream.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bees and wasps:<\/strong> If there is a sting, remove it with a card or fingernail (not with tweezers, as this could release more venom).
